The scope of this project was to design, manufacture, and demonstrate a hard impact tower system to test the hardness of metal coupons using a cylindrical impact head. The system had to meet strict budget constraints while incorporating custom designs to achieve unique outcomes.

Our team conducted extensive research on various design options that adhered to cost limitations, ultimately selecting a simple spring-loaded mechanism. We performed calculations to determine the required spring force to meet maximum impact force restrictions. Throughout the project, effective project management was crucial for collaboration within the larger team and ensuring alignment with working principles.

The project deliverables included detailed drawings, cost analysis, a bill of materials, and the integration of proper safety features for the mechanism, ensuring both functionality and compliance with safety standards.
