The purpose of this project was to do a first iteration design of an aircraft that can be used in a fleet. The purpose of the plane will be to monitor Canada’s Northern resources and environment in a military, or civilian fashion. The goal of the aircraft was to be a long range cruisier, as well as long term loitering. After, the aircraft needed to return at the same cruising range. Over the course of the project, we needed to follow a design process that included Research, a conceptual design (Specific requirements and tradeoffs) as well as a preliminary design (Analysis). There are a few obstacles needed to be calculated. Weight estimations and tradeoffs, aerodynamics and performance, as well as general forces and landing/takeoff requirements.

Overall, I had to calculate the size of my aircraft, design the aero foil, choose my engine and do a basic 3D Design. This was my favourite project throughout schooling and it allowed me to engage in my creative side while still learning engineering.
