The goal of the Mechanical Engineering Capstone Design course is to provide students with the opportunity to work on an open-ended design project. For this course, my team partnered with RIINO Inc. to design a coupling that met a series of functional requirements and constraints outlined by the company.

Over several months, our team conducted research, prototyping, 3D design with FEA analysis, and testing. We also focused on feasibility and safety requirements, ensuring the appropriate material selection, cost estimates, and overall improvements to the design. This project was also where I developed key skills in project management, teamwork, design evaluation, and cost analysis to choose the best solutions. Additionally, I gained a lot of knowledge on how to properly prototype products and more complex manufacturing processes such as 3D printing using different materials.
